ABOUT ME! LENNY...THE LIBERAL!
I was delivered by a
nurse midwife, an only child of "two mommies" on a small
communal farm in Vermont. At the age of four, I read
The Communist Manifesto for the first time and I
remember weeping as I read Marx's beautiful words. I
became a vegan as soon as I was weaned from my mother's milk
at the age of ten (she was a local leader in the "La Leche"
movement), and at age 12, my ears were first delighted by
Yusef Islam's (Cat Steven's) seminal work, "Peace Train."
It's music and words still move me to tears to this
day...(sniff)
At 16 I lied about my age
in order to be accepted as an intern on Greenpeace's
"Rainbow Warrior," where I first visited and lived among
indigenous peoples of the world, swam with the dolphins and
freed them from Tuna nets, and saw the evils of Republican
capitalist oil spills. I didn't know it at the time,
but I was also witnessing the beginning of a white, Republican,
wealthy, capitalist plot
to destroy mother Earth...GLOBAL WARMING!
After completing my
Greenpeace internship, I attended Reed College where I
triple majored in Feminist Studies, Chicano Studies and
Cultural Anthropology. I also proudly served with
distinction as president of the Campus Green Party,
president of the campus chapter of Amnesty International,
president of the campus chapter of the ACLU, and I was a
member of Campus Gays/Lesbians/Bisexuals/Transsexuals and
Friends (I was a friend!). And although not a member,
I had many friends who were members of the Forest Guardians.
Today, I live in a
communal home made of 100% recycled (and recyclable)
material, and I commute to and from my job at the used
bookstore on my 1986 ten-speed bicycle, since most hybrid
cars emit too many noxious emissions for my taste. My
number one reason for living is to "out" the lies of the
Bush administration, tell the dirty truth about the plots of
the evil
satanic Republican Party, and to spread the message of
peace, love, and understanding that the United Nations,
Dennis Kucinich, Eleanor Clift and Janine Garofolo embody.
